At Prescient National, we believe that well-informed hiring decisions, along with timely and strong post-loss processes, are major drivers of achieving favorable long-term experience which in turn drive down costs and improve policyholders’ profitability.

We work closely with our employers to mitigate injuries before an accident occurs by understanding job requirements and hiring only employees who are fit for duty using a Post-Offer Medical Questionnaire, understanding prior behavior through background checks and recognizing potential drug dependence through drug testing.  After an injury occurs, it is important that the employer has key programs in place such as Early Return-to-Work programs and post-accident drug testing. Each employer has a dedicated Risk Manager that can help to implement all of these programs for proper and consistent use. Additionally, each Risk Manager works behind the scenes to develop programs based on forecasted trends and on employer’s individual loss experience. 

Claims data helps drive informed changes.

We use detailed claims data to focus efforts on specific points of improvement and work in real time with employers to solve problems. For example, our Risk Managers use this data to determine the quality of an employer’s hiring and post-accident programs and spot in real time Early Return-to-Work challenges, ineffective safety programs, reporting lag time along with an overview of the healthcare and litigious nature of the workforce. This enables us to help employers improve their risk profile by zeroing in on areas that are causing challenges.
